EMERGENCY POLICIES ACCIDENTS

In case of an in-school accident, students should notify the nearest teacher or staff member. The main office personnel should be notified when there is an emergency or a need for an ambulance. The name of the injured person should be given. School personnel will notify the parents. The staff will call 911 if they judge that the situation warrants it even if they cannot contact the parent.

ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL PROCEDURES

All visitors to the school enter through the main entrance and report to the main office to sign in and receive a visitor pass. ISI will not be responsible for children who are in the school premise before 8:00 a.m. All students should be picked up by 3:20 p.m. unless they are with a faculty person for school activity. The school is not responsible for any student unsupervised in the building after 3:45 p.m. Monday – Thursday and 2:30 p.m. on Friday (Ramadhan schedule 8:00 am – 1:30 pm). A $5.00 late fee will be charged for each student for every 30 minutes that passes after dismissal is over until pick –up occurs. Also parents should call in changes to transportation arrangements for their children by 2:00 pm to allow for the timely notification of students and teacher. If your child has an appointment (doctor etc), Please send a note with your child or call the office one hour earlier to allow the teachers to prepare the student’s work. Students who arrive after 8:30 a.m. should enter from the front door and go immediately to the front desk (secretary office). They should not go to any other part of the building until they obtain a tardy pass and proceed directly to the class. Please follow the pick-up & drop-off route and drive safely (5 miles/hour), and do not stand and talk to teachers or parents in front of the pick-up area. If you choose to pick-up your child early, please park your car in front of the building and use the front entrance of the school. (no parking in the back of the school). It is the responsibility of the parent to hold the hands of their children and buckle them up.

EMERGENCY SCHOOL CLOSING

In the event of extreme weather conditions, the Islamic school of Irving makes its own decision as to whether school is to be closed. Announcements concerning school closings will be made on Channel 8,11, and 24 (CBS 11, ABC 8, NBC 24). Please do not call the homes of school officials relative to school closing. On days when it is felt there is no need to cancel classes, students not in attendance will be counted absent. Should inclement weather come after the school day is in progress, the school will announce early dismissal or class cancellation on channel 8 ,11, and 24.

BIRTHDAY PARTIES

The ISI has a policy regarding birthday parties. While it is each families business to plan whatever kind of activities it chooses, the ISI does not allow birthday parties in the school. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter. Also, the distribution of birthday cards, birthday gift (balloon), or invitation to birthday parties on school property is not allowed.
