Careers at ISI

Islamic School of Irving established in 1996 in the heart of the DFW metroplex. ISI is committed to improving the quality of education in Tarbiyah and Academics.

Teachers should provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences within the context of a nurturing Islamic environment. The teacher will design spiritual and educational activities to help them fulfill their potential for religious, intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Position # 1 :PRINCIPAL

  • QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. A master's degree or higher, with a strong emphasis in educational administration and supervision
    2. Valid Texas administrator certification preferred
    3. Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
    4. Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
    5. Strong communications, public relations, and interpersonal skills in Islamic Environment
    6. At least three (3) years of successful experience as a classroom teacher and prior experience in instructional leadership roles
    7. Experience and knowledge in Quran, Arabic and Islamiyat.
    8. Experience of working alongside Muslim parents within a multilingual, multicultural school community.
    9. Must have excellent planning, organization, communication, leadership, problem solving, and maturity, project management and critical skills.

  • GENERAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Administer and integrate all instructional programs including Quran, Arabic and Islamic Studies.
    2. Acquire School accreditation and supervise overall accreditation project.
    3. Provide leadership that emphasizes high expectations for and that result in student success.
    4. Use developmental supervision with all staff.
    5. Recommend employment, transfer, retention, and dismissal of all staff.
    6. Develop campus performance objectives and an improvement plan through collaboration.
    7. Develop, maintain, and use information systems necessary to address campus performance objectives including all academic excellence indicators.
    8. Interview, select and orient new staff.
    9. Promote a positive image of the school and maintain a positive working relationship with parents and the community
    10. Involve parents and other community members in school activities as required and/or appropriate
    11. Demonstrate awareness of school/community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs
    12. Develop a student management system that encourages positive student behavior and enhances the school climate in Islamic Environment.
    13. Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and student discipline is appropriate and equitable with Islamic character.
    14. Develop budget based upon program needs, estimated enrollment, projected staffing, and other fiscal needs
    15. Comply with all regulations with Texas state guidelines.
    16. Manage the use and maintenance of facilities to provide a safe and clean campus.

Position # 2 : DIRECTOR

  • QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Master’s Degree
    2. Valid Texas Administrator’s Certificate preferred.
    3. Knowledge in selection, training, and supervision of personnel
    4. Knowledge of Quran, Arabic, Islamiyat, State laws, regulations, and programs related to personnel management
    5. Excellent communication, public relations, interpersonal and team building skills
    6. Ability to exercise judgment in decision-making.
    7. At least five (5) years successful experience as a school administrator, Principal experience preferred.
    8. Experience of working alongside Muslim parents within a multilingual, multicultural school community.
    9. Must have excellent planning, organization, communication, leadership, problem solving, and maturity, project management and critical skills.

  • GENERAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Supervise Full Time Islamic School, Full Time Hifz School and Quranic School.
    2. Assist in working with principals and staff to define personnel needs regarding instructional management.
    3. Communicate effectively with staff, employees, media, community, and the school board.
    4. Direct the planning and coordination of application and recruitment programs for all employees
    5. Coordinate the approval and processing of recommendations for employment, resignations, and terminations of all employees
    6. Coordinate performance evaluation programs for all employees.
    7. Counsel with employees to resolve concerns, difficulties and other matters related to personnel management.
    8. Conduct training sessions for staff members regarding personnel functions as needed.
    9. Supervise the maintenance of accurate and complete personnel files to meet all legal and Islamic requirements.
    10. Maintain knowledge of and work to ensure compliance with all state and federal personnel laws and regulations.
    11. Articulate the School mission and goals in the area of human resources management to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
  • Develop Plans
    The Director conceptualizes the broad goals of the school systems, translates
    goals into plans, plans an organization structure capable of accomplishing the
    goals, assesses the degree to which policies and practices are attained and
    plans responses to assessed needs.
  • Develop and Maintain the Educational Program
    The Director assures that the educational goals in a manner consistent with
    legal; fiscal, organizational and community represent the system’s goals
    demands. This responsibility involves organizing and implementing an
    appropriate instructional program, evaluating the program, communicating
    support system needs to the board; maintaining appropriate working
    relationships with the board, staff, and community; and complying with the
    various demands placed on the school system.
  • Establish and Maintain the Program Infrastructure
    The Director assures that the system's goals are represented by infrastructure objectives pertaining to facilities, personnel, support services, and information management. He assures that board goals are translated into plans for the infrastructure, that plans are implemented and information is collected, maintained and communicated in an effective manner.
  • Develop and Maintain Administrative Procedures
    The Director creates the administrative procedures necessary for implementing personnel and fiscal policies consistent with: system policies; assessed needs; and applicable laws, rules and regulations. Once developed, the director assures that administrative procedures are implemented appropriately.

Position # 3 : Lead Islamiyat/Arabic/Quran Teacher

  • QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. A master's degree or higher, with a strong emphasis in Islamic education like Quran/Arabic/Islamic Studies.
    2. Experience and working knowledge of curriculum and instruction for Arabic, Islamic Studies and Quran
    3. Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness

    5. At least three (3) years of successful US experience as a teacher/Imam and prior experience in instructional leadership roles.
    6. Experience of working alongside Muslim parents within a multilingual, multicultural school community.

    7. Demonstrate Tarbiyah awareness of school/community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
    8. Encourages Islamic behavior in all school activities and enhances the school climate.
    9. Ensure that school rules and student discipline is appropriate and equitable with Islamic character.
    10. Lead Quran and Arabic Competition on school campus, city, state and national level.
    11. Lead Morning Assembly, School Youth/staff Halaqas and Friday Qutbahs
    12. Comply with all regulations with Texas state guidelines and educational laws.

Position # 4 : Lead Early Childhood Teacher

  • Reports To: Principal

  • School: Islamic School of Irving

  • Date Revised: 4-16-2007

  • Primary Purpose: Assumes responsibility for general supervision and management of children. Overall administration of instructional program for Early Childhood and Curriculum development for ECH program.

  • Position Supervises: Children, Teachers, Teacher Aides, Substitutes, and Volunteers.

  • QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Education/Certification:
      • Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s degree preferred) in Early Childhood Education, ESL Education, or Elementary Education from an accredited university.
      • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate required.
      • Minimum of five years early childhood teaching experience required; teacher training experience.
      • Qualify under educational requirements of Title XXII and Title V as a fully qualified site director.
      • Obtain Site Supervisor Permit from the Department of Education within three months of employment.
      • Attain 15 hours of training to include Emergency First Aid, CPR and Infectious Disease Prevention Certificate within three months of employment.
      • Ability to plan, develops, and conducts effective professional development training.
      • Ability to communicate and work collaboratively with a diverse community, staff members, parents, and students.
      • Knowledge of early childhood education, district curriculum, curriculum resources, methodology, best practices, and national/state/local initiatives
      • Collaboration, project management, program development, implementation, and outstanding presentation skills are required to achieve the goals of the position
      • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in written and oral form
      • Knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations related to compliance issues
      • Ability to independently coordinate multiple projects and assignments simultaneously.
      • Any other qualifications as may be deemed necessary by the School board
    • Special Knowledge/Skills:
      • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
      • Knowledge of TEA initiatives and current trends in research, planning and teaching strategies.
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office Professional and school related software.
      • Basic knowledge in Islam, Quran, Arabic and Islamic Studies.

  • Essential Functions: Performed under the direction of the Principal:
    1. Assumes all duties of the Teacher and Teacher Aides
    2. Administrative
      • Plans, supervises and implements the program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of ISI.
      • Completes and maintains the following licensing reports and documents: restraining orders, suspected child abuse reports, unusual incident reports, injury/death reports, staff accident reports.
      • Reviews scheduling of all staff. Schedules and regulates staff working hours according to child/teacher ratio and site needs
      • Reviews performance of staff, substitutes, student teachers and volunteers as needed
      • Responsible for meeting all licensing regulations, agency policies and agency procedures
      • Updates records on site (enrollment, attendance, meal counts, daily logs, curriculum, child observations, parent participation) as needed
      • Keeps records of all classroom documentation.
      • Assists Principal in the following areas: enrollment, supervision of staff, conducting parent meetings, conducting site meetings, attending agency meetings, and other areas as assigned
      • Maintains confidentiality of children, families and employees of ISI.
    3. Health and Safety
      • Assists in completing maintenance orders in a timely fashion
      • Assists with Quarterly health and safety checklist
      • Provides a pleasant, safe, and clean learning environment for children
      • Keeps inventory, order and purchase site supplies as needed
    4. Direct Service
      • Provides developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities for children
      • Using a team approach implements the individual goals and objectives that are set for each child through their IFSP, IEP, or developmental assessment.
      • Meets the individual needs and interests of children in relation to their cultural, social and economic background
      • Greets children, parents, staff and guests as needed
      • Provides quality services to children and their families in accordance with TEA standards
    5. ECH Program Promotion
      • Works as a member of the agency team by promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization
      • Participates in activities that furthers own professional growth
      • Provides accurate information, give tours of sites and classrooms as needed
      • Maintains and encourages professional, positive, constructive communication with staff and families
      • All other duties as assigned by principal.

Position # 5 : Part-Time Help Desk Support Engineer

  • QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Bachelors or Masters degree preferred or Associate’s Degree in Computer Science
    2. MCSE certification or A + certification preferred or willingness to acquire within two (2) years.
    3. Experience in working with computer networks nstallation, troubleshooting, and repair of computer-related equipment and peripherals including, but not limited to computers, printers, monitors, and CD players.
    4. Effective interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
    5. Knowledge of Windows 98/NT/2000/2003 operating systems and software applications like MS Office, Exchange etc.
    6. Experience with troubleshooting problems with a variety of computer operating systems and hardware configuration. Ability to recognize, analyze and resolve network problems

  • GENERAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Set up and maintain the operations of all computer systems and other school campus technologies.
    2. Coordinate repairs on all computers on the school campus.
    3. Work with Technology services and staff as needed to assist in major technology installations in school.
    4. Troubleshoot and maintain campus networks.
    5. Install licensed software.
    6. Assist the networking team in current networking applications Windows Internet Name Server
    7. (WINS), Domain Name Server (DNS), Dynamic Host Core Protocol (DHCP), Proxy services, email servers, Internet Information Server (IIS), content filtering products, backup and virus protection utilities.
    8. Maintain school inventory of computers, auxiliary equipment, and software licenses
    9. Keep current with technology advancements.
    10. Keep informed of and complies with state guidelines and regulations, as well as school procedures, concerning technology and its use.

    1. Experience in teaching groups of children at various proficiency levels in Quranic recitation
